SRCC COVID Safety Plan

  • Student volunteers, providers, and prospective patients will be screened for common COVID-19 symptoms. Students will be asked to attest that they have not experienced symptoms in order to participate. Prospective patients with symptoms will be referred to alternative sites. SRCC does not perform COVID testing. Persons who with a suspected COVID-19 infection will be asked to return home. Patients with suspected COVID-19 infections will be seen via telehealth.
  • Masks are required at all times in the clinic when social distancing is not possible. Students will be asked to bring their own masks to clinic. Masks may be cloth or surgical (surgical masks are available upon request).
  • UW students are required to use a face shield at every patient encounter.
    • Face shields must be removed and sanitized at the end of each day and after each encounter with airborne/droplet/enteric precautions.
    • After each day at the clinic, please store your face shield in a closed paper bag for later reuse. Directions for removal and sanitization can be found on the next page.
    • DO NOT REUSE SOMEONE ELSE’S FACE SHIELD. Face shields are available upon arrival at the clinic.
  • For all patient encounters, clear protocols for sanitization, social distancing, mask and glove use will be used. Protocols are attached.
  • PPE including full face shields, gowns, gloves, and masks are available as needed at the clinic. Patient encounters will be evaluated by the triage nurse on a case by case basis for the need of more PPE than the minimum (a mask and hand hygiene). Providers will be notified of the necessary precautions before entering a patient room.
  • Hand hygiene supplies including hand sanitizer and soap are also available at the clinic.
